The Kingston AreaTown & Country Studio Tour 2007 This is a self-guided tour. There is no admission fee. History of the TourThe Town & Country Studio Tour sprang to life with the merging of three separate studio tours within the Kingston region in 2004. The name ‘Town & Country’ was chosen as a reference to both urban and rural studio locations on the tour. The idea of merging into one larger art tour was initiated primarily as a means of artists supporting one another and to present their work to a wider audience. The Town & Country Studio Tour is a juried artists tour. Kingston’s historic limestone city, with its colourful autumn country roads sets the stage for this dynamic arts event held each October, after thanksgiving. The tour features some unique creative environments, merging past and present. Visit studios amongst the old stones (and new) of Kingston, or take a trip to a rural hand built stacked wood studio, an 1820’s limestone farmhouse or even a fairytale cabin nestled in a forest. Many studios feature a collective group of artists, making the studio tour experience interesting and diverse for the public to view. Local and guest artists showcase an excellent variety of media including ceramic art, fibre art, paintings (oil, acrylic and watercolour), printmaking, fine furniture making, leatherwork, fashion, jewellery and more. Visit the 2007 Gallery pages for samples of the artists' work and information about their studios. You may also pick up a brochure at various locations throughout Kingston and area.
